Mike has been the senior pastor of First Baptist Dyersburg since January 2005. He is a graduate of Mississippi College and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Mike and his wife, Wren, both grew up in Jackson, Mississippi and were college sweethearts. They were married in June 1986 and have three adult sons; Hamp, his wife Rachel, and daughters Addison and Claire; Sellers, his wife Hannah, and daughters Emery and Haven; and Sky. They love to spend time together as a family whenever possible, and their favorite place to be together is on the beach of Hilton Head Island, SC.
The verse that shapes Mike’s life and ministry is Colossians 1:28-29 (NLT): So we tell others about Christ, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all the wisdom God has given us. We want to present them to God, perfect in their relationship to Christ. That’s why I work and struggle so hard, depending on Christ’s might power that works through me.
When Mike is not at church, you can often find him cheering on the Dyersburg Trojans at their sporting events or spending time with Wren at home or as they are traveling to spend time with their grandkids (and their parents). Mike currently serves as a member of the Dyersburg City Schools Board of Education.
